The USA Softball umpire program is among the nation's largest officiating organizations with over 26,000 officials actively involved each year. 

USA Softball officials are nationally recognized as the best trained and proficient in the sport and are involved in competition starting with league play, city, state and national championships.

USA Softball Online Umpire Registration is now open!

​In 2024, all umpires MUST register using RegisterUSASoftball.com.

RegisterUSASoftball.com is the online membership website for USA Softball.  The system is operated out of the National Office in Oklahoma City, OK and support is provided by both the National Office and the Local State/Metro offices.

The USA Registration system is open for the 2024 season. 

Steps:

1. Submit the registration in www.registerusasoftball.com

2. Submit payment for the registration and background check (where applicable) via PayPal, Credit or Debit Card.  

3. Initiate the background check (adult umpires only) by going back into registerUSAsoftball.com and authorizing the background check to be performed. 

This step also requires umpires to submit SSN's for background check purposes.  

In addition to registration, umpires also have to complete SafeSport training and make sure, after they complete their course, they must sync their accounts in RegisterUSASoftball.com (Under the SafeSport tab, 2024 Season Compliancy box). The update does not occur automatically. 

Regarding how umpires register.....there are 2 key fields in the registration information screen the need to be properly populated to have umpires listed under your board.

Field:  Umpire Group:   The only valid selection for all umpires is "Umpires-Umpires".

Field:  Umpire League:  Selecting "Umpires-Umpires" in the group field, will list the local boards for selection. Members would select their umpire board from this list.

All Massachusetts USA Softball umpires must be background checked annually, and is part of the registration process.  The background check must be completed before you register as an umpire.
