2024 Tournament Director Information
We strongly recommend that all organizations who are hosting USA Softball of Massachusetts sanctioned tournaments events, review our 2024 Local Tournament Rules & Policies located on our USA Softball of Ma website. This page will also have a list of A, B, & C classified specific rules for each age/class division. If you have any questions, please contact Walter Babcock, Peter Fernandes, and/or Larry Miller.
2024 Local Tournament Umpire Requirements
Due to the continuous reduction in umpire numbers throughout the country, USA Softball of Massachusetts has made the decision that all USA Softball of Massachusetts sanctioned local tournaments will be allowed to use one umpire for all pool play games & elimination games. The only exception will be semi-finals and championship games, these games will need to have two umpires.
This decision was not made lightly. Our focus needs to be on preserving our current umpire numbers and having umpires working 5/6 games a day just can’t be sustained. We hope in the near future we can return to multiple umpire games but as of now this will be the norm until further notice.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please feel free to contact our area commissioners Walter Babcock, Peter Fernandes, Larry Miller or our state commissioner Phil McElroy.
Welcome to the the website for USA Softball of Massachusetts. We are the only Softball organization in the state of Massachusetts affiliated with the national governing body of Softball: USA Softball.
